The Facetasm x Air Jordan 1 Mid 'Fearless' (Style Code: CU2802-100) is a premium sneaker collaboration released on November 22, 2019. It was launched as a headline installment of Jordan Brand’s "Fearless Ones" collection, which celebrated cultural visionaries who push boundaries.
Designed by Hiromichi Ochiai—the founder of the avant-garde Japanese fashion label Facetasm—this sneaker subverts the traditional Air Jordan 1 Mid design with runway-inspired tailoring and textures.
Key Design Features
- Crinkled Leather Upper: Instead of smooth leather, Ochiai utilized a signature wrinkled, heavily-textured leather base that gives the sneaker a high-fashion, distressed look.
- Tokyo-Inspired Colorway: The color blocking uses a clean crisp white base accented by "Celestial Teal" overlays, a "Dark Obsidian" (navy) Nike Swoosh, and stark black panels around the collar and throat.
- Unconventional Midsole Branding: This design features a mini red Jumpman logo stamped right onto the lateral heel of the white midsole—a rare modification for an Air Jordan 1.
- Asymmetrical Branding & Pull Tabs: A thick, bright orange nylon pull tab is stitched down the spine of the heel featuring explicit Facetasm branding. A woven Facetasm tag is also unique to the right shoe's ankle collar.
- Outlined Wings Logo: The iconic Air Jordan Wings insignia on the ankle is presented as a distinct, raised patch outlined in bright red accents.
